Campus Pride represents the only national nonprofit organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students.
Time Out Youth is dedicated to providing support, advocacy, and education to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and their allies, ages 13-23, in Charlotte and the surrounding areas.
Last year, President Obama headed a White House summit on bullying prevention. He opened the summit by saying "If there’s one goal of this conference, it’s to dispel the myth that bullying is just a harmless rite of passage or an inevitable part of growing up. It’s not.”
According to the White House almost 3 million students have said they were pushed, shoved, tripped, even spit on. It’s also more likely to affect kids that are seen as different, whether it’s because of the color of their skin, the clothes they wear, the disability they may have, or sexual orientation.
