Angela Davis: Promoting Legendary Music

This is our Solidarity Saturday episode and we are here to celebrate the accomplishments and sojourn of righteous warrior Mother determined entrepreneur skilled promoter and shining example of what it means to take an idea or dream and see it come in to existence. This divine Black Woman comes in the name of Angela Davis.  Angela’s music journey began when in middle school in the 80s when during career day after hearing the story of a parent who worked for a radio station in my hometown of Syracuse NY. It was during that session Angela knew she wanted to do something in the music industry. In the early 90s when Kris Kross dropped the hit single Jump her younger cousins formed a rap group called Tic Tac Toe, however just as fast as they formed those dreams were short lived. After finishing school in 1991, Angela left school to come home pursue her dream of doing music full time with local Hip Hop group MadPack from the high school she attended. Next, Angela signed an independent deal with HeatWave records in California. She was responsible for doing all promotion for MP street promotion for prominent recording labels Death Row, Mercury, Select along with any label in need of promotion in my area. Some Angela’s significant achievements was creating an opportunity for MadPack’s music to be reviewed by Billboard Magazine and is currently working with other major recording artists among whom is legendary Hip Hop artist Positive K.
