Mary Shomon is a patient advocate and author who transformed her 1995 thyroid diagnosis into a mission to educate and empower others struggling with thyroid and hormonal conditions. Her latest book, co-authored with former Baywatch star Gena Lee Nolin, starts out with Gena's story including her time in Hollywood, struggling with symptoms that were eventually diagnosed as thyroid disease. Beautiful Inside and Out includes chapters to help other women understand what the thyroid does, recognize the possible signs of a thyroid problem, find and deal with the right doctors, have the appropriate tests, get properly diagnosed, and choose the most effective treatments.
