Dana Laake and her special guest Dr. Neal Barnard will discuss groundbreaking diabetes research and how following a high-fiber, plant-based diet can reduce the risk of other metabolic risk factors, including high blood pressure.

Neal Barnard, MD, is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. He has led numerous research studies investigating the effects of diet on diabetes, body weight, chronic pain, and dietary interventions in type 2 diabetes. Dr. Barnard has authored more than 70 scientific publications, 15 books, and has hosted three PBS specials on nutrition and health. As president of the Physicians Committee, Dr. Barnard leads programs advocating for preventive medicine, good nutrition, and higher ethical standards in research.
