Special Guest: Dr. Richard MacKinnon, Insight Director, The Future Work Centre.

Dr. Richard A. MacKinnon is a chartered psychologist and Insight Director of The Future Work Centre. Richard has over 16 years of experience as a practitioner, working in areas as diverse as employee wellbeing and stress, psychometric assessment, coaching and leadership development and employee research. He has worked across a variety of sectors, in the UK and Ireland.

The Future Work Centre was established to raise the profile of evidence-based practice in the workplace, to help the general public “think like a scientist”, to counter organisational myths and fads and help organisations make better, evidence-based decisions. We research topics of relevance to organisations and have recently turned our attention to the impact of email on employees, the relevance of the concept of ‘employee engagement’ and the value of the annual performance appraisal.

Join us as we discuss what it means to be ‘evidence-based’ at work and using employee engagement as an example, use this perspective to call into question some of the truisms that exist about engagement.
