I was 28 years old when I had a stroke. I was living an active lifestyle competing in martial arts, Olympic style weightlifting and generally working to be healthy. After an ischemic stroke, I spent time in rehab working in recovering my life skills and improving my mindset. It challenged my relationships and my view of my sense of self and community. The gratitude the having a stroke has shown me has steered me into sharing positivity and perspectives from the view of a stroke thriver.
