Tonight's special guest is Eileen Dong from Houston, Texas, She is a child abuse survivor and an advocate against domestic abuse, human trafficking, and sexual assault. Eileen is on the Advisory Board with SAAN, a sister organization, as the cross culture communications expert on domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Pageantry has become Eileen’s platform for bringing awareness to the growing epidemic of gender-based violence, especially for filling in the gaps of culture stigma. In the Asian culture, female victims do not dare to speak up, neither is there an Asian voice who understands their culture. Gender discrimination has been a big problem in China which resulted in abortion, abandonment, and childhood abuse for girls. Dong’s dad used to beat her up regularly for no reason. Nothing was ever good enough in his eyes. Later, she started working so hard to prove to him her worth. This makes her the way she is today: to excel at everything she puts her mind to. Today she uses her mind to empower others. She is the spokesperson for Hope Pyx Global, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families from all backgrounds who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking, and sexual assault. She also sits on various coalitions, advisory boards, and support groups. Eileen’s merits have been recognized by the United States Congress as well as the Atlanta City Council. Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston, has proclaimed on January 19th Eileen Dong Day. Eileen was also featured on various television and radio shows, magazines, and newspapers in multiple languages internationally.
