At the start of 1976, Steve was in the 5th grade, an altar boy at St. Mary Magdalen in Metairie. After finishing the school year, his family moved to River Ridge and our new church would be St. Matthew the Apostle.  My parents required that I attend summer school to ensure I was up to date with the other students in my class.  It was here where I met my first clergy member at St. Matthew the Apostle,Deacon George Brignac. He was my summer school teacher as well as the director of the altar boy program. To my regret I went to lunch only to be molested and raped on the way home, never telling my parents.I could tell no one as we were taught that clergy was the next closest thing to GOD.  During the duration of summer school, he continually placed his hand down my pants and on the last occasion ripped the whole side of my pants open in front of the entire class when I pulled away.  Others laughed as I ran out of room with him following, he grabbed me and told me “IF YOU TELL ANYONE I WILL FAIL YOU”.

In 2018, had just moved back to Louisiana.  While watching the news one evening, a report of about George Brignac came on the evening news.  I lost it right then and there in front of wife.  As I sat shaken on the sofa just saying, “its him, its him”.  Though my wife did not know what I was talking about, she did her best to comfort me. A box that had been stored and forgotten deep in my brain was opened. That was December of 2018. Made it through the holidays, faking it.  2019 was my year of hell, blaming myself for what had happened and wanting to commit suicide again.  I came home drunk by 10 in the morning begging for help from my wife. She brought me to a behavioral hospital for help.  By midday I had signed myself in.  It was here that I realized none of this was my fault, however I was once again 12 when my mind thought of the past.
