Michael E. Deutsch joined The People's Law Office in 1970 where he has represented political activists and victims of police and government civil rights violations .His advocacy has taken him all around the world ,including to hearings in the United Nations . Michael was the past legal director of New York based Center for Constitutional Rights .Member of the National Lawyers Guild .He has received many rewards for his work in efforts surrounding prison issues ,human rights violations and law violations.He has worked with former political prisoner Zolo Azania .Michael was a lawyer in the case of the 1971 Attica Rebellion where the prisoners won a case against New York City .And millions of dollars were rewarded to prisoners. In fact former Attica prisoner Frank "Big Black" Smith was rewarded 4,000,000 for the torture he endured by state police ,prison guards and officials after the retaking of Attica prison in 1971.Mr .Deutsch helped Puerto Rican nationalists prisoners Lolita Lebron and Rafael Cancel Miranda get clemency .He also has represented political prisoner Leonard Peltier,BLA prisoners ,RNA prisoners ,Chicano prisoners ,Black Muslims (NOI) and many more .He also has write articles and did publications such as Attica,Forty Years Later .
