Jazz Appreciation Month (fondly known as "JAM") was created right here at the museum in
2001 to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz for the entire
month of April.
JAM is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz - to study
the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and
more.

Nathaniel Adams Coles, known professionally as Nat King Cole, was an American jazz pianist and vocalist. He recorded over one hundred songs that became hits on the pop charts. His trio was the model for small jazz ensembles that followed. Cole also acted in films and on television and performed on Broadway.

What was Nat King Cole's most famous song?

Unforgettable the most popular version of the song was recorded by Nat King Cole in 1951, with an arrangement written by Nelson Riddle. A non-orchestrated version of the song recorded in 1952 is featured as a bonus track on the CD reissue of 1955's completely instrumental Penthouse Serenade. Mar 31, 2016
