Truths are hard to hide. Has the library of freemasonry become too large? too deep? too much?
How old are we? 500 years? 298 years? Imagine the reaction you could get if you claimed your wine was 10,500 years old. Archeologists may have found wine dating from the stone age, but it would be absurd to make such a statement.
How old is the craft? It depends. Are you a student of theology tracing commonalities between the major religions? Our gene pool is that diverse that it can be dissected by literalists or mined for the allegorical content. If you associate the process in Netherlands where constitutional practice was introduced, then we are thinking 15th century.
If you are wrapping the Craft into a world dialogue then we are meaninglessly old.
Are freemasons expected to be students of science? If that's the case religious fundamentalists would not do well at all.
