Education in A Mystery School

Do you think the roots of freemasonry trace back to ancient Egypt?  When I am asked such questions out of the blue, I always find my hasty effort to reply is a stumbling effort. When I response saying 'it depends on the context of your question'  it seems evasive but if freemasonry was one molecule thick, had one dimension, was of one atom, then it would be a much simpler question.  As it is, Freemasonry is multi-varied. So many aspects, so many 'truths' derived from so much history and the need of a particular mind for understanding
