If we understood what motivates us each day we would be dressed either in uniforms or colourful displays of individuality. Would the search for knowledge be based on a desire to resolve conflicted thoughts? So we are saying, calm reflection is not only possible but is a product of the enlightened mind. If we begin to think equality means everyone will think like me, then I'm setting myself up to be dissapointed.
As a man ages, his experiences help mature his thinking unless he has chosen to stop growing or has reached his capacity and is capable of no more. If we could whisper one message to every candidate it would be this: beware, you are unique so you will begin noticing things that challenge you. Be patient; learn through silence.
As we begin our studies, old ideas will become new through us. If we understand their meaning, we just might be influenced by them.
