Curiosity killed the cat!
When we are children, the world is a literal place. Things are as they appear. The human brain continues to develop. We have language before we have speech. Babies have a sense of morality. Some infants show a capacity to share and care for others. Some on the other hand, show competition. Today we know the brain continues to shed and produce cells. If it is damaged we know it can 'rewire'. We know concussion hurts the brain and causes us to loose functions and shorten our lives. We see pictures of the brain with dementia but we don't know why it has plaques and tangles, just that it does. The brain coordinates all the functions of a human being. What of the mind? Is it artistic? Is it smart? Does it have insight? Does it have good memory? What of personality? Sanguine? Phlegmatic? Melancholic? Choleric? What limits your progress? Are you sure you know your own potential? Likely not!
We call it occult or esoteric but what we mean is 'knowledge of the hidden' . MC walks into the laboratory curious about truths are hidden in here. This place calls on us to use our minds in a way that is beyond the reason we use every day. It is believing the unbelieveable. We once mocked those who believe he could turn lead into gold. Today, particle accelerators make nuclear transmutation possible. Using atomic weights (tin= 50 + copper=29) = 79. The atomic weight of gold=79. You do the math! The only people still laughing may never understand. We're used to that. We're masons.
