UPPER CANADA; WHERE WE ARE WELCOMING CONSERVATION INTO MASONRY

Masonry comes to us intact. It would be disappointing if the very things that are intended to change, improve, challenge and mold character were prone to tampering. Unconscienceable as it might be to change any of the elements that are impactful, it could occur, by happenstance, miscommunication. Let's use a thought experiment to see where it takes us. What if anything less than a precise execution of ritual and scholarship lead to erosion of an element within the chemistry both needed and promised, in terms of character development?  There are those moments of reflection, when sit back when you do, with deas that describe and define.  And when you think of the Craft, the mind drifts maybe to expectations, opportunitites, shortcomings, accomplishments that are fleeting and the next challenge before us. Then consider the question; is Freemasonry the better option? Where men be limited by their personal experiences, where our minds cling to ideas we have and resist new, outside ones experience, there is a world much unfamiliar, more wonderous. Into that fracas we are accepted as apprentices; men with hopes, dreams and ambitions. Optimism, believing in common purpose for all, including the stranger, knowing secrets means understanding; a palatte of imagination. So be audacious, be the exception; the man who finds inner confidence to listen, to learn from mistakes, to deliberately be silent, alert and motivated by a curiosity about the truth.  Will those beautiful ideas apply if I remain passive?  First steps are fraught. Next steps,is sustaining progress given all lifes vissisitudes. You can be exposed to ideas framed by others, until that moment when you realizing the responsibility of honesty frames your own aware of balance.   Is subtlety in your field of vision?  Harmony can be heard but not by those who turn away.
