THE VEIL IS ILLUSION

So many forms of ritual made it through the turmoil that eventually caused our Grand Lodges to protect us.  Somehow, a Grand Lodge is present for a reason. Consistency of organization and historical continuity are important.  That said, a comparison of ritual is a useful learning tool, apart from the usual bromide, that ppl believe what they want to believe there are those who have eyes wide open. Let's leave it to F.Scott Fitzgerald: The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. To suggest one ritual is sufficient might say more about a lack of insight about human potential than anything spiritual or philosophical. Which brings me to a question? Is study  to reveal  secrets and mysteries and (cause a better life) been made into assumption or a goal? If it is assumed, it explains why in many lodges have we neglected to create atmospheres to enhance learning. Popularity has done this to us. How wrong minded of me to think  for many, the craft is not democracy but ideological. Where ignoring meritocracy is how I've lowered expectations. Even if we harvested unqualified candidates we cannot in good conscience act surprised with the result. Better to accept all ppl have potential.  In that way, we have little to loose from people who go through the motions without understaniding or meaning. Sadly their frequent complaints and expose' are superficially flimsy.  Carrying forward our biases, expressing our conceits- that's entitlement.  Being careful in the way we judge is how we influence awareness. To judge is to understand it. To understand is to discovery.
