INFERENCE: THE ART OF MASONIC PROCESS

How it works. Filling boxes with books and articles does nothing to heighten the acuity of masonic literacy. I have lost the capability to have sympathy with ideas that are widespread but useless to next generations of brethren, just as I have no sympathy for the anger and annoyance, that I am not following in step. Syncophancy is not respect. So of the hundreds and thousands of opinion pieces available to us, what is the expectation?  Collecting them? Reading them? Understanding? "Don't just say you have read books. Show that through them you have learned to think better." ~Epictetus.  Think about the entirety of masonic literature and and what holds it together is a process.  Often content is passed on randomly. Too often it is handled by those who have read without understanding. Owned without applying what they have learned. In other words they step back from the assimilation of ideas that a lodge is expecting.  That awkwardness is off putting until we equip the audience with a way to bridge their thinking to the point of inference.  The randomness has happened because time and distance have effected our work. At the heart of this is an intention that you the reader will be made aware that holding qualified opinions about history, symbols and philosphy are well within the parameters. And as Epictetus admonishes- show that you understand and apply what you have learned to your thinking and behaviour because without this, what have trulyyou gained?
