The Order itself is imperfect. It rests on merit- an idea that took root centuries ago. The Landmarks I would argue, are time phenomena that hold a constant delicate relevancy for those who wonder if the past does in fact contain value. Truth and reason are hidden treasures, filed in a library that doesn't distinguish. One subject. A new presumably better idea is prone to immediate exploitation by vest interests whose business it is to persuade and convince. Knowing what we know, doesn't come with moral judgement attached. Without that, we are prone also to manipulation so how do we actually know our own mind when compliance holds so many advantages? What we do with fact and opinion varies greatly. Our education addresses literacy requirements at an individual level as if inside an envelope of cultural value. Our leverage in a multi-cultural setting breaks down without a convincing knowledge of similarity. It is made more opaque by cynicism. Does the cynic even trust himself? Even trusting perception is fraught without a means to confirm it. Ideologues would have you believe confirmation is what they think is in a listeners best interest. It is difficult to keep up with expectations. To fulfill our sense of responsibilty will shape us but is there more than one deadline? If or how we reflect on relationships, commitment, changing roles and purpose matters tremendously as it all unfolds naturally. There in is the passive/powerful notion of objective/subjective awareness. We carry ourselves to meet expectations. We are taught a form of honour and defined commitment. How does this adapt for men who experience separations and divorce, a series of jobs that require relocation, men of intelligence, educated by the classroom discussion and real life experience? Resilience. If we look for resilience in FM, we find it. Contemplation serves us well.
