Beauty is truth, truth beauty- that is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know- What was the poet John Keats thinking at the time that prompted this idea? It has been repeated often, as men tend to do, when they are lost in thought. It isn't a declaration I think, as much as a temptation. When I walk through an art gallery I prefer the company of someone keen to draw in the experience. Especially when they interpret art and share their context I find it a privately valuable moment. Why are some drawn to refinement of thinking while others not? Can one be remodelled? I tend to think it depends on what the individual can bring forward, whether it is a task or a joyful experience willingly begun. Isn't our religion intent on self-discovery? A philosopher might ask how we know our own nature and teach us about sophistry and socratic method. But to know your own thoughts in our culture is a form of acceptance when so many algorythms are telling us they know us better than we know ourselves. Trying to muster confidence in leadership to create order and form collective purpose, has entered the age of global democracy. It is a sticky, distempered clamour that right minded men claim is the best form of accountability. But it is a process, both painful and cumbersome. Some lodges with like-minded gentlemen are able to make it work. Others chipping away at compromise and control, walk hopefully along a precipice.
