Wars have been fought over the collision of cultures, to what end?  There is no, one culture.  Humanity is spread over a diverse land mass, that in itself effects thinking.  Mountain regions may isolate. Coastal communities may absorb and the rest of us are somewhere in between.  It seems a stable culture with a sense of hegemony was necessary to give rise to an organization of men, dedicated to self-development. Stability meant it had the advantage of universities, places that drew bright minds, environments that encouraged exploration, that savored this thing called the scientific method. It was an admission that we control very little in this expansive universe, but we are curious. If we are observant, the accumulated findings make it possible for us to postulate, asking questions, especially those that to a point in time don't come with hard fact to give us answers. We go in search, armed with an idea and ethics aspiring to 'learn' what the universe has to offer. It requires the advantage minds equipped to absorb different interpretations. A man stuggling with the exhaustion of survival is in different kind of struggle.  Abstract ideas won't competed.  Masonry is a gem in a field of indulgence. Some men have advantage that the conditions of survival have created surplus. One of them is leisure time. Some wile it away. Others dedicate themselves to knowledge and some to the betterment of humanity. Which are we? Unusual. We may aspire to define ourselves equal,by way of adopting a new lifestyle, predicated on finding relative truths are not absolute. That atmosphere influences, it brings mediocrity to the surface, it stimulates effort and congratulates innovation but free of the chains of profit, culture within culture.  Masonry didn't invite the structure. It too built on it.
