Thelma King Thiel’s crusade against liver disease began 41 years ago when she lost her young son Dean to a rare and fatal liver disease. Since that time, she has been working to increase knowledge and support for liver disease research and education. Known as “The Liver Lady,” she is a regular on Capitol Hill and in the advocacy world.
Thiel has served as the administrator of three national voluntary agencies over the past four decades and is currently the Chair and CEO of Hepatitis Foundation International. She has authored a series of 14 videos on Liver Wellness – Prevention of Hepatitis and Substance Abuse and “quick and easy” teaching tools. Her unique, motivational presentations were recognized by the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation providing her with their Above and Beyond Citizens Award
The Hepatitis Foundation International (HFI) addresses multiple healthcare concerns to help Americans stay healthy by further promoting Liver Wellness in our society. http://www.hepfi.org
