September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Brandon J. Johnson, M.H.S. is a tireless advocate for positive mental health and suicide prevention services for youth and adults across the country and within the local community of Baltimore, MD. Currently, he serves in the Federal Government working on suicide prevention. He provides guidance to states, tribes, and healthcare systems on suicide prevention initiatives. Another highlight of Brandon’s career is his current role as the Co-Lead of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s Faith Communities Task Force. Brandon is also the creator of “The Black Mental Wellness Lounge,” a YouTube channel dedicated to discussing Black mental health and healing.
Dr. Rheeda Walker is a licensed psychologist and award-winning Professor of psychology. She has published more than 60 scientific papers on psychological risk and resilience and African American mental health and been cited in or appeared on Good Morning America, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and the Houston Chronicle. Her recently released book is The Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health.
