Barbara Morriss grew up in southern California in a town called Garden Grove. After high school, I attended California State University at Long Beach receiving a B.A. in humanities. Following graduation, I earned a teaching credential and became a public school teacher. I taught primarily at the secondary level. Most of the years I worked at the Carmel Middle School and taught history and literature. Sharing my love of history and a well-told story became a passion.

Her Book A Promise in Autumn - Prior to World War 1, eighteen-year-old Keagan Cadagan, a poor Irish Catholic girl, secures employment as a housekeeper and nanny in the home of a seemingly honest businessman, Ian Flannigan. For reasons unknown to Keagan, the Flannigan family suddenly moves to Springfield, Missouri, taking her with them. Under mysterious circumstances, Keagan is told that she is in danger and must leave the Flannigan home immediately. What follows is the mysterious disappearance of the Flannigan family and the evolving relationship between Keagan and a young man. When the United States enters the war and the scourge of the Influenza Pandemic of 1918 envelops the city, Keagan struggles to maintain her sense of happiness and hope in a home she has learned to love.
