Arlene McGuire grew up in Harlem, New York, with her family who all came to the US from Jamaica, West Indies. As a young person, she loved words, including reading and writing essays, which allowed her mind to take flights of fancy and sharing for others to enjoy. Her book Hanging in the Quiet is a collection of original poems and the stories that contributed to them. They are meant to welcome you into the world of author Arlene McGuire and help you to find yourself in the words.  The stories pay homage to loved ones and encourage readers to pursue their purpose and passion and live life to the fullest.

Recently After winning a tiresome battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma extra Nodal Cancer the purpose of exploring and sharing her creative energy was clear – help others renew their creative passions. Today, Arlene uses all of her gifts and talents – author, poet, painter, voiceover artist, survivor – as conduits to encourage people to live in the space of gratitude and creation.
