There is a question that needs to be answered about the children of illegal immigrants that have been raised in this country, but the answer is not citizenship and amnesty. We already provided amnesty once under President Reagan. I do support the mandatory application of e-verify – the process is free to business owners and the results are immediate. There must be accountability at all levels of our society, including with business owners. I also support the establishment of a controlled and documented guest worker program, which can be instituted after our domestic unemployment rates reach much lower levels than where they are today. Guest worker programs can work if everybody plays by the rules.
The American culture is at stake! Uncontrolled, illegal immigration accounts for a big part of the dilution of the American culture, but so does Chain Immigration. “Chain Immigration” refers to the process of foreign nationals immigrating to a new country under laws permitting their reunification with family members already living in the destination country. Sounds like a nice thing to do, right? Wrong! Chain migration is the primary mechanism that has caused legal immigration in this country to quadruple from about 250,000 per year in the 1950s and 1960s to more than one million a year since 1990. As such, it is one of the chief culprits in America's current record-breaking population boom and all the attendant sprawl, congestion, school overcrowding, and other impacts that reduce American's quality of life.
