Whistleblower's! is presented in coordination with Marcel Reid and the annual Whistleblower's Summit each July in Washington D.C
Our guest: Lawrence Lucas
Lawrence returns to update us on the recent appointment of Sonny Perdue to Secretary of the USDA. Perdue, who was governor of Georgia from 2003-2011 was a former Democrate who turned Republican. Lawrence will be talking about what many are anticipating will be major changes at the USDA and what he expects those changes will be.
At issue among many other things, is the plight of Black, Hispanic and women farmers, all minorities in the agricultural community who have had to endure discrimination in lending and access to USDA programs. Hopefully, we can hear what might happen to the 17,000 + complaints that the Vilsack administration let lapse without ever addressing those complaints.
Also: What about the women of the Region 5 Forestry Firefighters, who were molested, some raped and harassed on the job? Will these women be treated fairly under the new Secretary?
Its a new day at the USDA.....but will it be a new deal?
