A federal court recently equated guardianship to racketeering. https://www.newsbreak.com/ohio/cincinnati/news/0Nyb0cl6/federal-court-equates-elder-guardianship-to-racketeering
California families see predation, exploitation, abuse, and racketeering in conservatorships (California’s term for adult guardianship).
Linda Kincaid will discuss her observations of predatory conservatorship throughout California. Kincaid says, “Conservatorship is driven by money. Conservators and court appointed attorneys create conflict to increase billable hours for themselves and for their service providers.”
Sylvia Campa will share the story of her daughter Annette Rodriguez. San Diego County Public Guardian threatened to tear Annette from her home and isolate her from family. Annette fled to Mexico, where she enjoys greater protections and civil rights than under conservatorship in California.
Monica Mukai will share the story of her nephew Ryan Morris. As a child, Ryan was torn from his family and victimized by the Orange County social services system. As an adult, Ryan is victimized by the Riverside County conservatorship system. Ryan was a victim of sexual abuse for years. The Pubic Guardian currently isolates Ryan from his biological family. Ryan’s court appointed attorney encourages the isolation and finds any reason to create conflict. A family fighting to protect a loved one guarantees billable hours for predators.
