Betrayed by Hospice with host Marsha Joiner – Wednesday, February 23, 2022 #61P

Guest Michelle Young Doers. Registered Respiratory Therapist – B.S. R.R.T, C.P.F.T

Breathing is a sign you are still alive, but what happens when you need help to breathe? What apparatus will be the best for you to continue your life? Do you need a BIPAP, a CPAP or a Ventilator? What’s the difference? What happens with each and are there downsides?

What’s the difference between oxygen from a concentrator, a tank and liquid?

Over the past two years, we have heard so many things about people with COVID affecting people’s respiratory system and them being put on ventilators and the outcome.

Because I am naïve on the differences and want to understand I asked an expert to come share her vast knowledge with all of us. Michelle Young Doers is a Registered Respiratory Therapist who has over 30 years expertise working in the field of literal breathing. The information she shares with us is from her perspective related to breathing and is not meant to be a diagnosis for anyone. You should always talk to your doctor if you are experiencing issues. This is an educational program to explain the differences between breathing apparatus.

One of her career moves was to work for hospice as a respiratory therapist which would be her most challenging and gut-wrenching position administering to end-of-life patients. Her experience would ultimately lead to her walking away from those horrors and authoring a book titled Killing for Profit – The Dark Side of hospice.

Knowledge is power.
