Simon S. Russin — Vice Chair

Mr. Russin‘s contributions are many. He has devoted years of his life to help LACERA become the respected institution it is today, while also protecting the rights and benefits of its members. During his long and impactful tenure Mr. Russin has served as Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair. He continues to serve in various capacities. Mr. Russin has been on the Board of Retirement since 1983 and first sat on the Board of Investments in 1985, where he has been reelected several times. His experience, knowledge, and service history make him a vital asset to both Boards.

Here are some of his notable accomplishments:

  • Helped negotiate settlement of AB 399 to provide $1 billion for LA County Workers and Retirees
  • Helped negotiate adoption of the Pension Obligation Bonds that fully funded system and created additional surpluses for the employee benefits and vested medical plans for retirees
  • Current Vice Chair, Board of Retirement
  • Former Secretary, Board of Investments and Board of Retirement
  • Past Chair and Vice Chair, Board of Retirement
  • Former Chair, Operations Oversight Committee for LACERA Board of Retirement
