Answers in Genesis, a creation science organization, put out a book/report called 'Already Gone'. The perceived consensus at the time was that children of faith lose their faith when they reach high school or college. 

The report showed it was younger than that -- approximately by middle school a child begins to lose their faith. Those kinds of fact and statistics are sobering. Perhaps grim.

So how can we reach our children with the message of our faith, questions about God, life, good, evil, pain, suffering, sexuality, and more? How can we get them to talk to us?
