They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick., Matthew 9:12
We've all heard this verse many times before as Jesus rebuked the Pharisees of the day as they criticized Him for consorting with publicans and sinners. Jesus said these words as it related to the sin-sickness of our reality. The very fact that Jesus used this relationship of doctor and patient shows the importance of having a good medical professional in times of need.
What if the doctor you trusted...is the one that made you sick? And if that isn't bad enough, instead of trying to make you better, they made you worse. As mistake after mistake piled up in their efforts to make you well, they begin to realize that there's nothing they can do...so they try to cover it up. Finally, they blame God for your pain.
The doctor-patient relationship is an important part of community. There's a certain trust patients expect from their doctors to uphold and when that trust is violated, the emotional, psychological, and physical ramifications begin to fall like a domino effect.
