This lake in Georgia has a haunted history and was named after a Georgia poet and musicuan and poet Sidney Lanier. Lake Lanier created in the 1950's when the United States army Corps of Engineers built Buford Dam for purposes that included flood control, power generation and recreation. It is the primary source of water for Gwinett County. This body of water once covered a thriving Black community!
