Nia Simmons debuts new single, "Living for Today". It is the first release from her upcoming project "A Songbird's Journey".
Nia Simmons is a vocalist/actress/songwriter/arranger from Alexandria, Virginia. Her vocal style is heavily rooted in R&B, Gospel and Jazz with artists such as Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Clark-Sheard, and Ledisi among her vast list of musical influences. She is a Howard University graduate and was an original member of the premiere Howard University vocal jazz group, Afro Blue. Nia's career has taken her to multiple renown venues in the Washington DC/Baltimore area (Kennedy Center, DAR Constitution Hall, Warner Theater, Lyric Opera House and Blues Alley to name a few), where she was privileged to share the stage with nationally and internationally-acclaimed artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Howard Hewett, Vanessa Williams and Kirk Whalem. She is currently working on her debut R&B project titled, “A Songbird’s Journey” to be released in Spring 2014. The recent release of Nia’s debut single “Living for Today” has successfully established her as an independent R&B/Soul rising star. The single has expanded her fan base internationally and is currently climbing the UK Soul Chart Top 30.
