Chatting With Sherri welcomes film editor Jason Summers who worked the fascinating documentary about Natalie Wood!
Jason Summers is a documentary editor who's latest film Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind was an official selection at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and is now streaming on HBO. Born in San Francisco, Jason grew up close to the film industry as his father Gary Summers worked for George Lucas' Skywalker Sound as a Re-recording Mixer on films such as Return of the Jedi, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, and Titanic.
After graduating from film school at San Francisco State University, Jason moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and worked in various post-production jobs before teaming up as an editor with behind-the-scenes documentary filmmaker Laurent Bouzereau. Their partnership has spanned over 15 years leading to their collaboration on Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind. This film is a story of a Hollywood Legend but also a personal story about a family, a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a boss fighting for equality way ahead of her time. It’s also the story of tragedy and overcoming loss under the intense media spotlight and tabloid speculation told by her daughters as well as her closest friends and collaborators. The film also features never before seen home movies and photographs of Natalie Wood from the families archive.
