Karen Gedney MD, author of ’30 Years Behind Bars,’ Trials of a Prison Doctor is an internal medicine specialist who spent almost thirty years as a prison physician. She was designated as one of the best in by the American Correctional Association and won a ‘Heroes for Humanity Award’ for her work in HIV in the correctional system. When she left the prison she became an advocate for Holistic Prison Reform and sits on boards and organizations that advocate for the inmate population. She also consults for lawyers and the public defender’s office regarding constitutional medical care for the inmate population. Her other interest is in increasing the health span of the aging population and became board certified in Anti-aging and Regenerative medicine when she retired from the prison. She is a speaker on aging gracefully and enjoys speaking at organizations as well as at wellness retreats on rewiring and refiring to stay vital and relevant. She also became certified in hypnotherapy to expand her ability to help people with their problems.
