On Sun. May 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. (EST) Words Make People will host a forum for SHURAH (open consultation) on what should/could be the Islamic position  LGBT. What should Muslim parents and communities be teaching our Muslim Children on how to best address such sensitive un-Islamic Issues?

Join me your host Michael Saahir and co-host Mustaffaa Abdullah on WORDS MAKE PEOPLE.

As Muslims in an ever changing American society what are your thoughts on how we are to teach our Muslim Children the best ways of addressing sensitive un-Islamic issues?

From the cradle we teach our Muslim children not to eat pork. To various degrees of notable success we have taught our Muslim youth how to navigate the un-Islamic practice of drinking alcohol, using drugs and the wrongs of committing of zina (fornication). But have we sufficiently approached our Muslim youth about the un-Islamic acts of same-sex marriage and same-sex public restrooms?

In our current-day society new laws are on the books that protect trans-gender issues. As Muslims we definitely believe that every American should be protected regardless of their sexual preference; nonetheless, the practice is still haram (forbidden) for Muslims. So how do we teach our Muslim youth to be law-bidding Americans while yet maintaining a lifestyle that is in accord with Al-Islam?

Every single day our children are being taught un-Islamic concepts. We cannot and should not sit idly without taking a respectful position on ANY and ALL societal issues.

Our Muslim children and the American society need to hear, publicly, from us on the LGBT and same-sex public issues.

Please join WORDS MAKE PEOPLE on Sunday May 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. (EST) for a shurah discussion (open consultation) on this topic. Your thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.
