We are grateful that America has become more inclusive while acknowledging that there is room for much more improvement. Often we hear about how “white privilege” favors America Caucasians; However, this time we’ll discuss how non-Christians – namely Muslims – have to navigate through a culture – within the general public sphere – that is not always conducive to the holidays, attire, and to a large degree even the educational needs of Muslims.
We want to engage everyone in a conversation that we hope will contain information that is mutually beneficial to our Christian friends and to people of other faiths. America’s “traditional” societal patterns are designed to favor Christians without much discussion and awareness about the daily adjustments non-Christians make just to get through a 24 hour day.
WORDS MAKE PEOPLE plans to further this conversation and we encourage you to tune in and to call as we discuss this topic of “Christian privilege.”
Our guest will include Brother Muhammed Saahir a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and serves as a full time clinician at the Indiana University Health Center Counseling and Psychological Services and Sister Nuri Rodriguez a Muslim who is a freshman at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN
