In our earlier stage of development we were taught to maintain my post until properly relieved. The question we are asking today is, “Have we been properly relieved? To answer that we need to understand what is our post. Collectively our post may be the obligation to guard the well-being of our TOTAL community life?

Among other topics WORDS MAKE PEOPLE will discuss is do Muslim Americans, particularly African American Muslims give due diligence to taking Al-Islam to the streets, to our family and friends? During the days of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad his followers were noted for intentionally (sometimes aggressively) sharing “the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad” with anyone who would listen.

Has making salat and learning Arabic – both which are very important – replaced our need to take this message of Al-Islam directly to the people outside of the masjid?

Have we “abandoned” our post, the obligation to guard the well-being of our TOTAL community life?

Imam W. Deen Mohammed said, “We don’t want the good ole’ days, but we do want the good from the old days.” Imam W.D. Mohammed never relieved us from the responsibility of reaching outside of the masjid. He consistently traveled the breast of America and spanned the world graciously and freely teaching the message of Al-Islam to people of every stratum.
