REPEAT SHOW -- Join WORDS MAKE PEOPLE on Sunday April 29, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. (EST) for a panel discussion on: “Establishing a Halal Cultural Life – Creating a Voice of Our Own” with Imam Sulaiman Salaam Jr. of Kansas City, MO and Kachebee Abdullah of Salt Lake City, UT. [Check them out on Facebook].
Halal is an Arabic term popular among Muslims that means “clean and permissible”. It is applied to everything a Muslim does from the food they eat, to the clothes they wear to the music they choose to enjoy.
Sulaiman and Kachebee are accomplished and talented musicians whose hearts and minds are very close to the cultural life of the Muslim American community. Both are committed to establishing a healthy halal culture that not only benefits Muslims but also all human beings.
Sadly too often the music and other cultural expressions represent a culture of death; morally, spiritually and intellectually. Kachebee and Sulaiman want to change that state of culture into a culture of real living.
Are you tired of the vulgarity and violence that is prevalent in our cultural expressions of music, art, dance and speech? We believe the Muslim community has something special to offer for improving the cultural life in America and the world. It is through culture that we can remake the world.
