On Sunday July 29, 2018 join WORDS MAKE PEOPLE as we discuss "Why Imam W. Deen Mohammed emphasized 'Human-ness' Over 'blackness '" Call .714 816-4673.
Human beings are more than a skin color; a physical phenotype. More importantly we are a spiritual genotype -- a human soul that is constantly journeying; by way of test and trials, back to our Lord, Allah who created each of us as an individual who succeeds by working in community with others.
Racist minded people grafted divisions within the human family, namely by making unnatural divisions based on skin color. The most damaging results of racism have been the beat down of the African American soul via an unusual form of slavery system that used religion to justify their evils.
Ever since slavery ended the freed enslaved Africans in America has been forced to REACT to white racism. The latest reaction has given birth to "Black Lives Matter" an admirable thrust to address "white privilege" and the questionable shootings of African American males by white police officers. Sadly African Americans are forced to use the divisive racial language.
Imam Mohammed called us away from identifying ourselves by our skin color. He encouraged us to use BILALIAN or AFRICAN AMERICAN as an identity. In recent years the title BLACK has regained notoriety even among a few of the Muslim who associate with Imam Mohammed. He worked very hard to bring us away from labeling ourselves as a color, citing that the term "black" plays into the hands of racist Caucasians.
