On Sun. Aug. 5, 2018 from 1-3pm EST, WORDS MAKE PEOPLE will continue discussing "Why Imam W. Deen Mohammed emphasized 'Human-ness' over 'blackness '"
Allah revealed" O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). - 49:13
Human beings are more than a skin color; a physical phenotype. More importantly we are a spiritual genotype -- a human soul that is constantly journeying; by way of test and trials, back to our Lord, Allah.
Racist minded people grafted divisions within the human family, namely by making unnatural divisions based on skin color. The most damaging results of racism have been the beat down of the African American soul via an unusual form of slavery system that used religion to justify their evils.
Since slavery ended the freed enslaved Africans in America has been forced to REACT to white racism, Jim Crow and most recently the questionable shootings of African American males by white police officers -- actions that gave birth to "Black Lives Matter" an admirable thrust; however, "black", a color is not a human destiny -- it is a response to white racism.
Imam Mohammed called us away from identifying ourselves by our skin color. He encouraged us to use BILALIAN or AFRICAN AMERICAN as an identity. In recent years the title BLACK has regained notoriety even among a few of the Muslim who associate with Imam Mohammed. He worked very hard to bring us away from labeling or identifying ourselves as a color.
