August 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of Women's Suffrage -- the right to vote --- the right to vote in the United States of America with the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; a major maturation step for a developing nation, "towards a more perfect union."

The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote, and reads: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”

However over 1,400 years ago, Prophet Muhammed (ppbuh) allowed women the right to vote, own property and inherit property, as well as having full responsibility and accountability for her mind and soul. Over the centuries there have been many Muslim women to lead nations as the ruler.

The Qur'an Sura 4:32 reads, "And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things."

Panelist: Dr. Afrah Hamin of Miami, FL; Fitrah Muhammad of Washington D.C.; Ayesha K. Mustafaa, Editor of Muslim Journal; Ndidi A. Okakpu, community development Consultant.
