Join WORDS-MAKE-PEOPLE on Sunday April 18, 2021 from 1-3 p.m. EST for a stimulating interview with Sister Shakira Bashir, President of The Jihad Bashir Support Foundation which is headquartered in Chicago, IL, and is a 501(c)(3) organization.
The Jihad Bashir Support Foundation is a true story of building a blessing out of tragedy; the building hope and life out of literal despair and death.
Allah tells us in Al-Qur'an, "Verily with every difficulty there is relief!" This is the mantra that pulsates in the heart, mind and soul of Sister Shakira Bashir and the many supporters of The Jihad Bashir Support Foundation; a movement that also touched heart of Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth Till-Mobley, the mother of Emmitt Till.
Jihad Bashir was a 14 year-old youth who lost his life (circa 1996) to an accidental shooting. His mother, Shakira -- accepting the Will of Allah -- used the difficulty of physically losing her son as an opportunity and an obligation to start a foundation which for the last 25 years, has given thousands of dollars to youth seeking to further their education. Her son Jihad lives on through this noble and successful foundation.
