Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic Calendar is a time for fasting. Often in question is how to properly sight the HILAL, the first sighting of the crescent after the birth of a new moon. In North America, the HILAL was first visible on the night of Saturday, April 2nd.
Join WORDS-MAKE-PEOPLE from 1-3 p.m. (Eastern time) on Sunday, April 03, 2022, for our two-part program.
In part one of our program we'll discuss with Imam Salim Mu'Min of Detroit, MI, and the founder of M.A.L.I. the proper method for sighting the HILAL "new moon."
Part two will be a prerecorded interview with Imam Nasir Ahmad of Miami, Fl, on the etiquettes of Ramadan and explanations of many of the symbols associated with this blessed month of fasting.
