Some people battle with this situation all their lives. It can be very frustrating to be the kind of person who tells the truth and have it be overshadowed  by people who will lie in order to prove their point. Is it still your word against theirs if it is you against more than one person? If a group of people tell a story of an event that differs from yours, are you likely to come out as being more credible? How successful have you been with my word against theirs? DO you respect people who remain truthful when then the odds are stacked against them, or do you have more respect for the person who is victorious?
