Feeling Like You are Talking Above People's Heads.

Talking above someone's head is what is happening when you are speaking to someone about something that they can't understand because they haven't been exposed to what you are saying, or because their education level is not up to speed with the concepts that you are talking about. It can be frustrating when you are really trying to reach a person and they can't seem to get it. Some people like to speak above people's heads because it makes them feel like they are smarter than other people. It's like a feather in their cap. It's a way of quietly belittling people. It can backfire on people like that because communication problems usually work well for no one in the long run.
