What Does Your On and Off Romance Mean?

Some relationships are on and off, hot and cold. They take breaks from each other, get back together again. They have children with each other and sometimes have children with others while on breaks with each other and backgethr again. They leave each other and get back with each other again after they realize that they can't be as happy with anyone as they are with each other. It sounds very toxic to outsiders, but to the couple involved, they think that this is how true lovsoul companionship works. What do you think?
