You can't be nice to everybody. Now that sounds like an internet cliche, but it can be true for better reasons with some people. Some people take your kindness for wanting to be with them. They think that any kind gesture, or nice words mean that you want to get with them. This can be a big problem in the workplace and might lead to allegations of sexual harassment in extreme cases. Now, it sounds ridiculous that just being nice to someone, or treating them decently would leave them to believe that you are flirting with them, or trying to give them sexually attractive cues, but when you consider how lonely, opportunistic and perceptive some people might be, it might make some sense to be more vanilla towards some people. When you treat the guy nice who everyone else treats like crap, it might have negative consequences. Let's talk.
