Is it disrespectful to use a person and their resources as your soft place to land if you fail? Many people do this. You might not know it if you don't know a person very well. You might not know the way that a person may try a bunch of risky ventures as long as they have someone behind them who will take care of them if things don't go well. Children may move out, get kicked out of where they live, and spend all of their money if they are sure that their parents will bail them out, or will let them move back in with them. Lovers do this to each other at times. Imagine having children or getting married to someone with no regard for the consequences because you know that if things don't go well, there is someone who will pay things off for you and take you back.
