Debora Pokallus graduated cum laude from Rutgers University, and has been active in the fashion industry for over 25 years as a designer, consultant and marketing and sales professional. Debora promotes the principles of ecological and fair trade fashion through advocacy and education, and assists international designers build successful businesses with a strong ethical foundation. Debora created Bel Esprit, the online showroom for international designers of ethical and responsible fashion, a platform that markets and promotes ethical designers' collections to buyers and press worldwide. She also helps designers source ethical supplies and production, and helping suppliers, whether established industry suppliers or community-based cooperatives, develop a broad client base to ensure their survival. Debora is working to engage the entire industry in ethical practices and works with and on behalf of international communities to create and develop sustainable businesses and socially and environmentally sound resources for the fashion industry in disadvantaged regions around the world.
